Restorations Sober Living Home

Since our inception, we have always worked to fill the gaps that exist for those who suffer from substance abuse disorder. Through our nonresidential services, we discovered some barriers that were impossible for some of our clients to overcome. That is how Restorations Sober Living Home came to fruition. We specialize in helping women overcome these obstacles by offering

* Sober Living that accommodates children. 
         * Studies show that women who can have their children with them remain more dedicated to their recovery, are more willing to engage in case management and referrals, have higher rates of employment, and remain housed longer. Children benefit by establishing a safe place to heal from separation trauma and avoid foster care. The family recovers together. 

*Housing First
             *Housing First is recognized as a best practice providing immediate access to safe, stable housing without requiring sobriety as a qualifier. Studies show that 80–90% of housing is retained after one year for residents, compared to 40–60% in treatment-first approaches.   Housing First reduces homelessness by 80-90%, and residents are more likely to utilize case management when it is offered.

* Case Management
                    *Case management assists women in overcoming obstacles that prevent them from having a successful recovery. Studies show that this vital service reduces relapse rates, improves economic self-sufficiency, and reduces criminal justice involvement.

We will provide a safe place for women who are recovering from substance abuse while focusing on restoring lives through the love of Jesus Christ.​

The goal for our sober living home is to provide hope through individualized, supportive, and compassionate care while sharing the love of Jesus Christ with those who are suffering from substance abuse disorder. Our residential facility serves adult women from Rock County and the Stateline area. Although we are a faith-based program, we do not discriminate against religious or spiritual views. Our staff will recognize each client’s underlying core problems to help them heal emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically. We aim to provide the tools needed to achieve and sustain recovery and to be self-reliant.  Our facility will give women the skills and time to overcome the obstacles that prevent them from being self-reliant. Partnering with other organizations will ensure women and moms have the tools they need during and after their stay with us to have the support they need to continue a successful journey through recovery.

OUR PROGRAM

 At Restorations Sober Living Home, we focus on whole-person recovery. Residents will have the opportunity to learn how to build healthy lifestyles through proper sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress management. We aim to partner with local businesses to provide meaningful job training and employment opportunities, while also teaching financial responsibility through courses in budgeting and credit repair. The resident will have ongoing supervision of financial responsibility throughout the time they reside  at Restorations Sober Living Home. 

Each resident receives individualized case management, group support, and recovery tools to overcome obstacles and rebuild self-esteem. We also provide a craft and game room to encourage creativity, new hobbies, and healthy recreation. Gardening and harvest preservation offer hands-on skills, promote wellness, and teach the value of nurturing growth.
When possible, we support the healing of family relationships and connect residents with parenting programs through community partners. Monthly social activities provide safe opportunities to practice healthy interaction and build new interests that support long-term recovery.

Community Statistics

1345 people were surveyed in 2019 in Rock County by asking what the top health problems are.

1. 1091 said that drug abuse was the number one health problem.
2. 863 said alcohol abuse.
3. 734 people were asking for drug and alcohol abuse services.

​Alcohol is the leading lifestyle-related cause of death in the United States.
Out of 72 counties in Wisconsin, Rock county ranks 19th highest in the deaths related to alcohol.
42% of Rock County vehicular deaths in 2020 were due to alcohol-impaired driving, while the state average was 36%.

The following information was provided by Joe Murray, of the Beloit Fire Department.
As of June 2021, 4% of all paramedic runs were due to overdoses.
Rock County received 134 calls for overdoses by June 2021, being the top six most frequent calls.

• In 2020, 137 individuals were given of Narcan.
• In 2021, 147 individuals were given of Narcan.

ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experience)and Effects on Addictions

​Addiction can be attributed to traumas experienced in childhood. These traumas (Adverse Childhood Experience or ACE) can be due to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse as well as physical and emotional neglect. Household disfunctions also can play a role, such as death or absence of a parent, parent/caregiver with mental illness or substance abuse, and domestic violence in the home. ACEs are linked to mental illness, substance misuse, impulse control and chronic health problems in children and adults. Rock County had the highest percent of high-risk people who admitted to having four or more ACE indicators as a share of the population (24% vs. a statewide average of 14%). It showed the fewest percent with scores of zero, in which a person had not experienced any of the ACEs (31% vs. 43%).
